Here, in no particular order, are 10 of the highlights (some might say lowlights) of this past weekend's reunion:
10. Texting EP
- We thought that attacking EP with a barrage of insulting texts all weekend long would prompt himto whip-it his way all the way to Dayton, but no such luck. We even agreed to use the same insult in all of our texts. I can't write it here, due to obscenity, but when you punch it in your cell phone, the automatic word-finisher-thingy writes "You are a giant puppy." Even though EP didn't come, he contributed greatly to the weekend's success.
9. Ben's DMB Bootlegs
- 5 years ago, there was a teary goodbye between Ben and his cassette tapes. He chose to entrust his 80 recordings of "Grey Street" to Julia, and she kept them tucked away under her bed for safekeeping. When Ben heard the tapes were still around, tears were again shed.
8. 202 Lawnview
- Jill decided that we needed to set up camp...somewhere...anywhere...hey, how about that porch right there! We got a flip cup table, a cornhole set, and Walker's cooler, and our Saturday afternoon took care of itself!
7. The Vacuum Treatment
- How can you entertain yourself and annoy your friends in an empty Garden Apartment? Give 'em the vacuum treatment! It's quite simple. Take a vacuum. Plug it in. Turn it on. Shove it in your friend's face. ***Side note: We were randomly assigned my junior year apartment. You may remember it as the great Irish flag theft of 2001, and also housed a certain midget/Enrique Igesias lover/Olympic speedskater hopeful***
6. My "birthday"
- Megan thought it'd be a nice gesture to tell the band at the Porch Party Saturday night that it was my birthday. I had a few hundred alumni sing happy birthday to me. It was the greatest birthday I never had. ***Side note: by "Porch Party," they meant "Hey, let's put a fake porch in an empty parking lot!" ***Side note 2: Megan gave herself a little birthday present later; an inflatable parrot from Tim's!
5. Walker's accommodations for the weekend.
- He slept in his car. Both nights. Saturday night involved half a sub from Sub House.
4. Campus South rooftop
- How no one ever discovered how easy it was to get on Campus South's roof while we were students is beyond me. Maybe it was because no one cool ever lived in Campus South.
3. Roofball
- Though I'm not a big fan of the game, Toddy K and Garman were running around like giddy little schoolgirls with that damn kickball! ***Side note: "Toddy K" was the nickname Ben gave Karas for the weekend. I believe I was "Coz." Ben is weird.
2. 7 Meyer Attendance
- On the drive home, Ben and I counted 14 out of 32 residents of 7 Meyer that we saw during the weekend. Not a bad attendance rate for the former floor of Dan Patrick.
***not pictured, but seen/awkwardly spoken to: Nate (NASCAR and Techno ditched him), Brent, Danza, Beach, Polka/Silent/Lifeline Steve
1. 301 Stonemill
- Walker, Ben, and I stopped by the old homestead to sit on the porch for bit, and stumbled upon an open living room window. I proceeded to hop through the window, open the front door, and wander around. Here's the attic we all know and love (the Christmas lights, bedsheet, and weed-soaked futons were nowhere to be found):
Mark your calendars for June 2013!
